About the Better World Campaign

What is it?

We believe that core communication skills are even more essential in the digital age and that there is a need for a renewed emphasis on developing these skills in young people in order to meet our three key objectives:

  • To ensure young people most in need are heard and helped
  • To develop young people's communication skills by sharing information
  • To help young people campaign to create real social change

What other activities do we do?

The BT Better World Campaign is a key element of BT's Corporate Responsibility Programme. We believe that Better Communication can help create a Better World. Our strategy is to maintain our current momentum in CSR and to focus our efforts on the 3 biggest challenges:

  • The need for sustainable economic growth
  • The need for wider inclusion of all sections of society
  • The need to tackle climate change.

What about BT's carbon footprint?

BT consumes 0.7% of the UK's entire electricity, so we think we can make an important difference. With our ambitious carbon busting plan we have committed to reducing our CO2 output and we believe that communications technology can be harnessed to help address climate change. We also hope to influence other companies and suppliers to do the same.

What is digital inclusion?

Providing greater access to communications technology (Connectivity). Encouraging communication and its use for social and economic benefit.(Content) Helping groups and individuals use technology(Capability).

Who gets BT sponsorship?

BT and Tate have been in partnership since 2000. Our on-line partnership has helped widen access to the arts and engage new audiences. We also work with The National Theatre, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the British Film Institute, producing educational resources. See our Education Zone
