"We have web chat sessions where young players can contact directly a Philharmonia musician and they can ask them all sorts of questions about their instrument and about music. And that way we can help share our expertise directly with youngsters all over the world."

Alistair Mackie, Chairman and Co-Principal Trumpet,

The Philharmonia Orchestra

Five years in development, and part-paid for by BT, the Sound Exchange remains at the cutting edge of music education, creation and discovery by virtue of an ongoing programme of interactive events and planned developments. It offers musical education via chatrooms and question-and-answer sessions with the musicians, plus video demonstrations by the orchestra.

Users can submit their own compositions and choose from thousands of free music downloads. The site also hosts live, interactive concert webcasts.
