Schools Question Time Challenge

What is it?

A unique citizenship activity for 14-19 year olds which combines a teaching resource with a real competition to find 8 students to co-produce a special episode of Question Time in July.

Who Can Enter?

The challenge is open to all UK secondary schools and colleges. Twelve schools are chosen as finalists from the hundreds of applications and the students produce their own debates based upon the popular BBC Question Time format. The four schools judged the best will have a chance to work with David Dimbleby on the production of a real edition of Question Time to be broadcast on BBC ONE.

Why is it a good idea?

It helps young people learn about citizenship, contribute to stimulating political discussions, improve their speaking and listening skills and get the chance to work collaboratively.

“Young people have shown that they are passionate about politics and the issues that affect their lives.”

David Dimbleby. Question Time Presenter & President for the Institute of Citizenship.
