Seen and Heard Awards 2009

The partnership between BT and the UK Youth Parliament is now in its seventh year. A cornerstone of the relationship is the annual Seen and Heard awards and accompanying report.

What are they?

The purpose of Seen and Heard is to recognise and reward the achievements of young people who have made a real difference to their own lives and the lives of others. We also recognise adults who have listened to and acted upon the voices of young people.

Seen and Heard Awards 2008

2008 was a tough year for our panel of 20 young judges thanks to the high standard of entries. They eventually chose their winners – with 15 UK projects, three international entrants and one adult winner from each category. The winning UK projects were recognised with a ceremony at the Houses of Parliament, where BT Chairman Sir Mike Rake, Dame Ellen MacArthur and other dignitaries joined UK MPs in congratulating the winners.*

The report

Since it began, the Seen and Heard report has told the stories of young people who make a big difference. We continue to involve young people in its creation, by giving them a platform to express themselves using their own words and illustrations.

How to get involved

Seen and Heard 2009 is looking to recognise young people who have used their communication skills to tackle an issue that's important to them; and for adults who have made a positive difference to young people's lives.

Entries for the 2009 Seen and Heard Awards are now closed. Please look out for more information about the 2009 Seen and Heard awards and report.

“Across the world, young people are using communication skills to change their lives and communities for the better. Seen and Heard celebrates their outstanding achievements and brings young people together who want to achieve real change.”
