Seen and Heard 2008

Time to be seen and heard

BT Chairman Sir Mike Rake proudly launched the 2008 Seen and Heard report at an inspiring event held on 17 December at the House of Commons. The Seen and Heard awards event recognised the outstanding achievements of this year’s winners, and was a collaboration between the All Party Parliamentary Group for Children (APPGC), the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP), and BT.

The winners and the judges

Representatives from the winning UK projects were in attendance and had the opportunity to meet members of the panel of young judges who chose all of the winning entries. In addition, the young people had a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament and attended a debate where they were able to ask their questions on a range of topics – including crime, discrimination and health services for young people – to a panel which included Baroness Howarth of Breckland, Secretary of the APPGC; Tim Loughton MP, Shadow Minister for Children; and Dame Ellen MacArthur, record-breaking yachtswoman.
