Inspiring Young Minds Brazil

Brazil has a unique set of social issues - many of them involve the plight of young people caught up in a spiral of poverty, lack of education and involvement in crime, drugs and violence. Inspiring Young Minds Brazil aims to tackle some of these problems head on by bringing young people together through the power of communication skills and technology. They will be encouraged to develop their own projects, which will enable them to influence some of the key social issues and policies that they and their communities are facing.

UNICEF research has shown that when young people in Brazil participate in addressing the issues facing them they are less susceptible to dropping out of school and becoming involved in crime, violence and drugs.

Over a two year programme, the project will reach more than 10,000 disadvantaged young people across ten schools in five of Brazil's largest cities.
